Maurice Douard

Maurice Douard is a painter born in 1951.

In 1971, he studied at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse. He did not make himself at home in the institution, and went his own way. He was attracted by the research of the Warsaw school of chromatology and psycho-chromatology.

Maurice Douard worked on light, the rhythms and dynamics of colour, and optical effects. He found support from psychiatrists and psychologists. He sought to destructure the image, but in a random way, preferring to focus on the way in which the subject is fractured by the human being.

In 1990 he fell ill, and for 10 years the fight against it took him away from the world, and he invested more time in those around him and in his studio… This painful experience gave rise to a vision and an application of his thinking that can be seen today.
